Crowbar for OpenStack Deployments

Crowbar is an Open Source platform for server provisioning and deployment from bare metal. It provides server discovery, firmware upgrades, and operating system installation using PXE Boot. It deploys applications on top of functioning operating systems using chef.

Crowbar was developed by the Dell CloudEdge Solutions Team as an OpenStack installer, but has evolved as a much broader orchestration tool. Crowbar makes deployments fast, repeatable and maintainable. This session will give an update about Crowbar’s progress and capabilities such as late-binding deployment and sophisticated network configurations. We’ll take time to explain where Crowbar is going because we’re expanding to include OpenStack upgrades, improved networking modeling, expanded cmdb support, heterogeneous operating systems, and pull from source.
